Those quacks from Kansas...you know who
Everyday when I get to work in the morning I peek to see what's on the fax machine and almost everyday is a flyer from the Westboro Baptist Church.
For those of you who don't know who these people are, they're using church in the most liberal sense of the word.
Located in Topeka, KS, they host several vulgar websites claiming to be supporting God by praising the deaths of American soldiers "for this country's fag sins" as they so humbly call it. I won't link to their websites as a matter of personal principal, but anyone curious can google them easy enough.
It's simply disgusting the way these people claim to be Christians. Being against the war is one thing. Peaceful protesting is encouraged in America, but these nuts have gone too far.
This week we received a flyer on how they will be picketing the memorial of Tammy Faye Bakker Messner. Now, I personally have never had much respect for Tammy, but this is simply sick.
They call her names that I won't repeat because I like my job and literally make fun of her.
Not very Christian of these people.
What are your thoughts on these people? Has anyone ever had any run-ins with them?
This is the only time I will discuss them. I don't feel they deserve the publicity.

At an event at either the Stars & Stripes Museum or the Veteran's Cemetery I met a man named Pastor Jim (I believe). He's a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and was telling me how they find out which funerals the WBC whackos are planning to picket and they contact the soldier's family to see if they would like for the bikers to come and block the protestors so the families don't have to see them.
Certainly a noble cause. I believe in the right to protest and wish more people had strong enough emotions to stand up for things they disagree with, but these people are just whackos. They give free speech a really bad rep.
