Morgan E. Hurst, 18, of Bernie, sustained moderate injuries in a Saturday night wreck on Highway 25, five miles south of Dexter, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The wreck occurred when Hurst, at about 10:25 p.m. Saturday, fell asleep at the wheel of her 2008 Honda as she was southbound, ran off the highway and overturned several times. She was taken by private vehicle to Missouri Southern Healthcare for treatment of her injuries...

Mission director hospitalized

It was learned late Monday that Stoddard County Gospel Mission Director, Kim Slavings was taken by ambulance from the Mission just after 5 p.m. Monday after collapsing at her workplace. According to Slavings' husband, Robert, his wife collapsed at the mission and soon after ceased breathing. Ambulance crews revived her at the scene. She is in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau...
