The saga revolving around the 151st House of Representatives seat, as voted upon in Tuesday's primary seems to have drawn to a close with an announcement Friday from Bob Thrower stating that he concedes the race. Thrower's announcement followed correspondence by Dennis Fowler, the successful candidate in the House race by eight votes, who asked Steve Jordan to reconsider his lawsuit contesting the Position One Commission race. Firefighters battle local house fire

A home near downtown Dexter suffered extensive damage in a Wednesday night fire. According to Fire Chief Don Seymore, 19 firefighters responded to a call at 9 p.m. to a house fire at the corner of Carter and S. Poplar Streets. The two-story home, owned by Tommy Brown, had a garage on the north end which was a total loss. The home itself sustained heavy damage to the north side, but is believed to be salvageable...

Projects underway at Fairgrounds

The Stoddard County Fair Board is constructing a new amphitheater and new restrooms at the fairgrounds in Dexter. They anticipate the project will be completed in time for the County Fair to be held Sept. 18 through Sept. 22.
