Land use guide offers wealth of information

The Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission (BRPC) received a Community Deveopment Block Grant to research and develop a land use guide for flood prone areas after the heavy flooding in 2011. The extensive plan took nearly two years to develop. It covers land use in all six counties served by BRPC, which are Stoddard, Scott, New Madrid, Mississippi, Pemiscot and Dunklin. According to missourigasprices.com, the 15 cheapest reported stations in Missouri are in the area--seven of those are in Dexter. Mark Hobgood and Ben Kruse were the best of friends. They were born four days apart, with Ben being Mark's senior. They shared an unassuming nature and a sense of mischief that seemed to work well on and off the ball diamond and the basketball court as they made their way through the Dexter School system in the 1990s.
