Nixon signs vehicle tax legislation

Gov. Jay Nixon signed legislation Friday that would allow local governments across the state to collect sales tax on vehicles bought out of state or on sales of vehicles between two individuals. The tax goes into effect immediately. The legislation does not end the dialogue on the issue. Within two years, local governments that did not previously have a voter-approved use tax must give voters a chance to repeal the titling sales tax for vehicles bought out of state or from individuals...

$21,000 grant to M2M

The "Duke," John Wayne, may be gone, but fortunately for the residents of the Advance area, his grandson is still alive and kicking--and he is coming to Advance on July 27 for the Advance Community Library "Meet the Authors" program. The famous film star's grandson first came through the area on May 8, 2013 with the Crowley's Ridge Wagon Train that traveled from Bell City to Paragould, Arkansas. ...
