EOC closes; 1 more snow day for county students

The Stoddard County Emergency Operations Center, housed in the board room of the county's Ambulance District building in Dexter, closed at 5 p.m. Friday, but its status could have changed at any time over the recent snowy weekend. County receives "good" rating on annual audit

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- An audit for the year ending December 2012 by the office of Missouri State Auditor Thomas A. Schweich found the overall performance of Stoddard County government "good." The ratings are based on excellent, good, fair and poor. Stoddard County Clerk Joe Watson said he was pleased with the overall audit report, and noted that steps have been taken by the office holders and staff to comply with the auditor's findings...

Even emergency vehicles had problems maneuvering through the weekend ice and snowstorm. This Stoddard County Ambulance was disabled in drifted snow in a rural area in the northern part of the county. Shown attempting to pull out the ambulance Saturday morning is SCAD Manager Dave Cooper. The Ambulance District has one four-wheel drive unit, and it was engaged when the call came in to respond to the northern edge of the county.
