Firearm investigation conducted at Dexter High School

The Dexter Police Department and the Stoddard County Juvenile Office conducted a firearms investigation at Dexter High School on Tuesday. According to Dexter Police Chief Hank Trout, a handgun was recovered from the vehicle of a 16-year-old female student. Trout said the vehicle was parked on school property at the time. The Missouri Gamma Delta Masters Chapter Beta Sigma Phi Sorority donated a series of books to the Central Elementary School Library in memory of member Marty Thompson, who taught fourth grade at the school from 1967 to 1999. The Dexter Farmers Market began in 2015 when a group of citizens sat out to create a local farm and consumer marketplace. The market continue today under the direction of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce and strives to meet the needs of its customers, while encouraging sustainable agriculture.
