Autism Awareness Day

Becky Edmunds and Ben Worley of the local Edward Jones office donned their Autism Awareness shirts Monday in observance of a time set aside to recognize the affects of autism in today's society. The disorder affects one in 88 children. In order to highlight the growing need for concern and awareness about autism, the Autism Society has been observing National Autism Awareness Month since the 1970s. The United States recognizes April as a special opportunity to educate the public about autism and issues within the autism community. Look for special articles in the coming days in The Daily Statesman that deal with autism.
