Fowler responds to Senate intent to deny his confirmation

Former Rep. Dennis Fowler was back in Stoddard County Friday after the legislature adjourned on Thursday. Fowler resigned from the House of Representatives (he represented Dist. 151) after receiving an appointment by Gov. Jay Nixon to the state probation and parole board. He started in that position on Dec. 18, 2013, and has worked there since that time. This week it was announced that Senate members on the appointment confirmation committee were going to block the appointment. They said in published stories that it was because Fowler crossed party lines and did not vote to override Nixon's veto. They further stated that the appointment by Nixon was political, in that Nixon was rewarding a Republican for voting against the party.
