Advance Library to celebrate Dr. Seuss
Theodore Seuss Geisel, lovingly known as Dr. Seuss, is one of the most popular writers of children's books in the world.
During his long life of 87 years, he wrote and illustrated 46 books with his rollicking rhymes and colorful characters.
The outlandish Seuss characters, such as the Cat in the Hat and Horton the tender-hearted elephant, were a far cry from the old "Dick and Jane" primers of the past.
Geisel's Beginning Reader series of books have become a staple in nation-wide efforts to promote reading.
On Saturday, March 22, 2014, the Advance Community Library will celebrate the March 2 birthday of Dr. Seuss with a children's program, beginning at 10 a.m.
Children will be treated to stories, activities, and treats in the roomy P.A.T. location across the hall from the library.
Library board member volunteers will team up with Parents as Teachers directors Nancy Hale and Sally Jones to provide fun and education for children age birth to 5 years.
All children and parents are welcome!
