Coordinated by Show Me Select Board with University Extension, Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture. Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, and weight. They have undergone a comprehensive health program, and are guaranteed bred. There were 85 A.I. bred heifers and majority were fetal sexed. Approximately 23 percent of the offering were Tier 2 Show Me Select heifers. Several herds have several generations of stacked pedigrees. All heifers are expected to calve from August 15 to late November. Within the offering, there were 95 percent black or black white face, some Registered Angus or Registered Simmentals. Heifers were graded and sorted into uniform lots according to projected calving dates and body type similarity. A well-attended sale, demand was very good. Supply consisted of 136 bred heifers from 15 producers, in 82 lots selling to 37 different buyers, average weight 1087 lbs, with a sale average of $2644.00 per head. There were 16 head of Tier 2 A.I. bred heifers, with an average sale price of $2772.00; 16 head Tier 2 natural service bred heifers, with an average price of $2544.00; 69 head Tier 1 A.I. bred heifers, with an average price of $2703.00; 35 Tier 1 natural service bred heifers, with an average price $2514.00.The average overall price of A.I. bred heifers was $2716.00, with natural service bred heifers bringing an average of $2525.00.
