Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 07/25/2014

Thursday, July 24, 2014

Jackets were quickly thrown back in the trucks as last week’s record
lows turned to heat indexes of over 100. Producers in all regions of the
state have made good progress over the last couple of moisture free weeks
getting hay baled. Given that it is mid-July pasture and water conditions
aren’t in too bad of shape but producers would be accepting of a good
shower to keep grass green. Hay movement continues to be very limited.
Hay supply is moderate, demand is light, and prices are steady. The
Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for
both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory visit
http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ or for current listings of hay
http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices f.o.b. and per ton unless
specified and on most recent reported sales price listed as round bales
based generally on 5x6 bales with weights of approximately 1200-1500
