Local couple values "paying forward"

Holly Stadler knows well what is entailed when raising a child with a disability. She has an eight-year-old son, Alex, who is diagnosed on the autism spectrum, and two daughters, Autumn and Rilee, who are enrolled in Dexter Schools' Early Childhood Special Education program due to developmental delays. Stadler and her partner, Gary Leathers, realize what caring for a special needs child entails -- they do it every day. They've made the monthly trips from their Dexter home to Children's Hospital in St. Louis for years. They've had therapists in and out of their home. They've attended IEP meetings and understand the legalities involved in the care and treatment of their children.
