BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Kathy Skelton, grant writer for the Stoddard County Historical Society told the County Commission that she had received word from the Missouri Heritage PropertiesProgram that the county was to be awarded a grant for restoration work to the old courthouse. She said final notice of disbursement of the money has not been received, but the notice said the county had been awarded a grant. The amount requested was $70,000, and it requires 30 percent local matching funds. The county commission agreed to provide the $30,000 in matching funds, leaving $100,000 for the courthouse restoration, if the grant is fully funded.
