Southeast Missouri Show-Me Select Replacement Heifer Sale: Fruitland-Fruitland Livestock Auction 4/2/15

   Coordinated by Show Me Select Board with University Extension, Commercial 
Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen 
Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture. 
 
   Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive 
soundness, pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, 
and weight. They have undergone a comprehensive health program, and 
are guaranteed bred. There are 142 A.I. bred heifers and majority 
were fetal sexed. Approximately 25 percent of the offering were Teir 2 
Show Me Select heifers. This means that they have met requirements 
and are out high accuracy sires. Several herds have 7 to 8 generations 
of stacked pedigrees. Several consignors feed their cattle and get top 
premium at U.S. Premium Beef on steers mates. All heifers are expected 
to calve from late August to late November. Within the offering, there 
were 98 percent black or black white face, 70 head of Registered Angus, 
Registered Black Hereford and Registered Simmentals. Heifers were 
graded and sorted into uniform lots according to projected calving 
dates and body type similarity. Demand was lower than our December 
sale with more heifers in the offering. 

   Supply consisted of 213 bred heifers from 18 producers, in 104 lots 
selling to 32 different buyers, average weight 1096 lbs, with a sale 
average of $2743.00 per head. There were 32 head of Teir 2-AI bred heifers, 
with an average sale price of $2877.00; 16 head Teir 2 natural bred 
heifers, with an average price of $2600.00; 110 head Teir 1-AI bred 
heifers, with a average price $2758.00; 55 Teir 1 natural bred heifers, 
with an average price $2591.00, $2785.00 was the average price of all 
AI bred and $2660.00 average of natural bred heifers.

   Replacement Heifers:   Few Reg. Angus and Reg. Simmentals, Large 1-2 
970-1125 lbs, 1 st and 2nd stage $2850.00-$3800.00 per head; Large 1 
1078-1314 lbs, 1st and 2nd stage, $2450.00-$3300.00 per head; Large 2 
1017-1300 lbs, 1 st and 2nd stage, $2450.00-$2950.00 per head; Medium 1
 995-1080 lbs, 1st and 2nd stage, $2400.00-$2750.00 per head; few 
Medium 2 853-1015 lbs, 1st and 2nd stage, $2200.00-$2550.00 per head.
