A Poplar Bluff man escaped injury Sunday afternoon when his pickup truck caught fire while he was westbound on Highway 60 near the Highway 25 overpass. Steven Cook was driving the truck when his transmission reportedly caught fire. He attempted to exit the highway using the Highway 25 ramp, but was forced to flee from the vehicle as it was being consumed by smoke and flames. The vehicle crossed all lanes of Highway 25 before coming to rest, fully engulfed. Dexter Fire Department was summoned to the scene around 3:15 p.m. to extinguish the flames. The driver was uninjured.
