Dexter Schools temporarily goes on lock down: all students and staff are safe

The Dexter School District went on lock down Thursday morning at the direction of law enforcement.

According to a statement released by the district this was done as a precautionary measure only and no threat was made toward the district.

The statement further said once the “all clear” was given by the Dexter Police Department, summer school at the district resumed as normal. The district statement said the students and staff were never at risk. The district extended their thanks to the Dexter Police Department, Stoddard County Sheriff;s office and Missouri State Highway Patrol for their quick and thorough response to the school.

The Dexter Statesman will release more information as it becomes available.
