At Southwest School in April, students were challenged to bring pennies (and other coins if they wished) to be presented to the Stoddard County Relay for Life for cancer research and education. As an incentive, students in the classroom at each grade level that raised the largest amount of money were afforded an opportunity to throw a makeshift whipped cream pie in the face of their teacher. At left is Kindergarten Teacher Angela Pope, shown after her classroom bombed her with pie in the face. Shown taking aim at her at left below is Ochean Learue. Tracy Elfrink, second grade teacher, is shown below just before her classroom of students took aim at her. Carrie Haynes' classroom was the winning class in first grade. In all, the students at Southwest raised $3547.20 for Relay for Life.
