The annual Christmas Reading from the second Chapter of Luke took place Saturday evening, Nov. 29, 2014, on Stoddard Street near downtown Dexter. The event marked the sixth year for the reading, and drew a sizable crowd. As they have done for the past few years, the Crowley Ridge Mennonite Church Choir provided Christmas carols. Open to the public and sponsored each year by Greg Mathis, a guest reader is invited annually to read the story of the first Christmas. This year, Dexter native Elizabeth Carroll Albritton took to the podium not only for the Biblical reading, but to tell also the story of the loss of her four-year-old son, Drew, in March of this year after battling cancer. Elizabeth and her husband, Michael, also in attendance, currently reside in the St. Louis area.
