Dexter Elks name students of the year

The Dexter Elks Lodge named its 2019 male and female student of the year. Throughout the school year the Dexter Elks have named a male and female student of the month from a different school in Stoddard County each month. The students of the month gathered at the Dexter Elks Lodge for a banquet Tuesday evening. The female student of the year is Richland High School senior Katherine Wyman, daughter of David and Carrie Wyman. The male student of the year is Bell City senior Evan Smith, son of Jim Smith and Stacy Thompson. Smith was unable to attend the banquet due to a prior commitment.

Guest speaker and Director of the TRC Dexter Campus Joe Kenley spoke to the students on being focused and passionate about their life goals.

The students of the month honored by the Dexter Elks are: Haley Nichols, Bell City; Tyrah Hartyle and Wes Schuchart, Bloomfield; Anna Bishop and Nathan Gargus, Dexter; Daisy Eaton and Joshua Ellenburg, Bernie; Katherine Wyman and Michael Manes, Richland; Sophia Hancock and Cole Yoebstl, Puxico. Not picture and unable to attend were Katlyn Cook and Brandon Greenlee, Advance; Evan Smith, Bell City.
