Stoddard County Ambulance District holds Life Safety Week

Friday, July 26, 2019

The Stoddard County Ambulance District held its annual Life Safety Week from July 22-26 at the SCAD headquarters. Capt. Jamie Holcomb, an EMT for SCAD, organized the event that taught children entering kindergarten through the sixth grade about all aspects of public safety. Holcomb said that she wants to familiarize youths with all levels of public safety and show them the not-so-scary parts of the job. Each day focused on one area of public safety: Monday was EMS day, Tuesday law enforcement, Wednesday fire and Thursday conservation. Friday was a day of fun when youths took an up-close look at the equipment and had a chance to play with the controls. The youths were also sprayed with water by a fire truck and were treated to lunch.
