Congressman Jason Smith recently visited Castor River Farms northeast of Bloomfield in Stoddard County. The visit was part of Congressman Smith's annual agricultural tour in which he visits 30 unique facilities across the 30 counties he represents. This is a third generation farm dedicated to soil health and sustainability.  Owner/operator Johnny Hunter spoke to Smith about the regenerative agriculture practices such as no-till, no flood, no burn and cover crops utilized to achieve these goals.  The work was completed on the rice mill in January 2018 and Castor River Farms have since launched its rice products into over 200 retail locations and it hopes to be in 350 by the end of the year.
