Twice a year, veterans residing at the Missouri State Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau are transported to Bloomfield for a Fishing Day and fish fry, sponsored by the American Legion Post 59 in Dexter and the local VFW. About 15 veterans enjoyed a sunny day on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2012.
