Paul Cox, son of the late Jess Cox and Bertie Edmundson Cox, was born on Feb. 18, 1920 in Puxico, Mo., and died on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo., at the age of 91. Mr. Cox was a member of the Dexter American Legion Post #59, Dexter Masonic Lodge #532, First Baptist Church in Dexter, veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II...

Paul Cox, son of the late Jess Cox and Bertie Edmundson Cox, was born on Feb. 18, 1920 in Puxico, Mo., and died on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo., at the age of 91.

Mr. Cox was a member of the Dexter American Legion Post #59, Dexter Masonic Lodge #532, First Baptist Church in Dexter, veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II.

He was the owner and operator of Cox's Auto Salvage and Repair in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

On Nov. 25, 1972 he was united in marriage to Margaret Allen in Dexter, Mo. Mrs. Cox survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, other survivors include one son, Ronald Lee Cox and wife Mary Ann of Dexter; one step-son, Ronald Hardin and wife Nora of Dexter; one daughter, Connie Bean and husband Willard of Jefferson City, Mo.; three step-daughters, Carolyn Bowling of Puxico, Mo., Patricia Burge and Karen Blocker, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; also four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and sixteen step-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Cox and Avra Cox.

Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011.

Funeral services were then conducted on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Interment followed at the Dexter Cemetery.
