Longtime educator, Gibbons dies at 83

Joe W. Gibbons, longtime educator and administrator in the Dexter Public School system, died early Wednesday morning following an extended illness. Gibbons, 83, had a history in the educational field that scanned 41 years. Dexter moves to 2-0 with win over Kennett

Dexter improved to 2-0 on the season with a 25-9, 25-18 win over Kennett Tuesday night at the Bearcat Event Center. Dexter coasted to an easy Game 1 win and opened with a 6-1 Game 2 lead before Kennett dug in. The Lady Tribe pulled to within 17-16 with a 6-0 run, but the Lady Bearcats responded by taking 8 of the last 10 points to secure the win... Joe W. Gibbons, a resident of Dexter, died on Aug. 31, 2011 in the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 83. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
