BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Stoddard County Presiding Commissioner Greg Mathis reversed his position on putting a measure on the November general election ballot to make the prosecuting attorney a full-time position. He brought up the issue at the weekly commission meeting Monday, and it passed by a 2-1 vote, with Mathis and Commissioner Carol Jarrell voting in favor of it and Commissioner Frank Sifford voting against it...

PUXICO, Mo. -- A unique group of young men from Stoddard County will be among those particiating in a 5K Run in Cape Girardeau on the first of September, the first of what they hope will be many such events. The eight make up the Mingo Running Club, and their inspiration to run comes from a Dexter woman who teaches several of the young men at the Mingo Job Corps Conservation Center, a residential vocational and educational training program near Puxico that teaches life skills to students from 16 to 24.. ...
