Stoddard County Conservation Agent Mark Reed was on hand at Keller Public Library on Wednesday, July 8 as the library's summer series, "Every Hero has a Story," continued. Reed brought with him several hides from animals that are native to Missouri and discussed with the youngsters the animals' habitat, as well as do's and don'ts as children explore the outdoors. Program for domestic violence victims gets underway in county

Two local women have taken steps to establish a program to provide assistance to both women and men who are victims of domestic violence. Co-founders Jennifer Land and Sharon Darby are in the process of establishing The Next Step as a 501c3 non-profit agency. Land said the paperwork has all been submitted to the Mo. Secretary of State, and they are awaiting approval. Both women are concerned about the number of families that are impacted in Stoddard County by abusive family environments...
