Drought-related ag meeting set for Wednesday in Charleston

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A panel of legislators and citizens will meet in Charleston on Wednesday to take public input from farmers and other Missourians who have suffered as a result of this year's drought. Rep. Steve Hodges, D-East Prairie, will join his colleagues with the Interim Commission on Agriculture Innovation and Economic Recovery in a series of hearings designed to better assess the impact of the extreme weather as well the ongoing economic recession. The commission's first public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Plant Science Center in Mexico, Mo., with the second meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 9:30 a.m. at the Delta Growers Association, Highway 105, in Charleston.
