UP program promotes rail safety

The Missouri Highway Patrol, Dexter Police Department and Federal Railroad Administration participated in the joint program Operation Lifesaver/UP CARES (Union Pacific Crossing Accident Reduction Education Safety) Wednesday and Thursday to make motorists and the public more aware of safety precautions at railroad crossings locally. Law enforcement was stepped up at selected crossings during these two days. Also, law enforcement/media members rode the train from Dexter to near Fisk to learn more about railroad crossing safety.
