Sharp addresses MSIP 5 numbers

When looking at overall MSIP 5 scores for Stoddard County Schools (and including Woodland), Dexter ranked second from the bottom with an overall score of 81.1. That overall score was brought at both the elementary and secondary levels, notably in the areas of math and science. That issue has been addressed by the local board on numerous occasions. In an effort to remedy the issue, an innovative math series was adopted district-wide at the start of the current school year. The Singapore method of instruction was selected after considerable research because of its consistent and strong emphasis on problem solving and model drawing, with a focus on in-depth understanding of the essential math in several testing apparatus, including the proposed Common Core State Standards.
