Advance/Zalma choirs to present Christmas Madrigal dinner

Jenna Martin and Savannah Kaminskis rehearse recorders in preparation for the upcoming Madrigal Feast, presented by the Advance and Zalma Concert Choirs.

Music lovers will be pleased to hear that the combined Advance/Zalma Choirs will once again be presenting a Madrigal Feast for the second year.

Last year's performance was a sell-out, so interested guests should get their tickets early.

This year's production is entitled "The Wife of Bath," a rollicking Medieval tale of a women scorned. The piece, taken from Geoffrey Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales," has been a popular story throughout history.

Erin Robison and Michaela discuss props and costumes for the upcoming Madrigal Feast on Dec. 15 and 16.

This year's event will be held at the Christian Life Church Fellowship Hall on Highway 25 east of Advance.

The times are set for Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15. Seating will begin at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, with the royal procession coming through at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday's performance will begin at 3:00 p.m. with seating beginning at 2:15 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now for $15.00 and may be purchased from any Advance or Zalma choir member. This includes the play, a 6-course meal and a concert with all choir students participating. There will also be a silent auction and a traveling peddler.

The choirs are under the direction of Mrs. Allison Page and Mrs. Linda Barnes Davis.

If readers have any questions or would like to donate to the silent auction, they may contact the Advance High School at 722-3584 and leave a message for Allison Page.
