Residents of Advance are excited to welcome another new business to this community located halfway between Dexter and Cape Girardeau.

Kevin Stanfield was on the site Tuesday, April 8, 2014 to explain the offerings which will be available at My Daddy's Café and Bakery, when the branch opens on May 1, 2014.

Like the main store in Cape Girardeau, the Advance café will serve fresh sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, fruit and pastries--including the original cheesecakes which have made the brand famous.

Muffins and biscuits will be baked on site, and the cheesecake will be delivered fresh from the Cape store, which is located on Broadview Drive. Chili will always be available.

"We're excited about coming to Advance," Stanfield said. "This is a nice little town. I have several friends here."

My Daddy's Cheesecake is a family business. Kevin's wife Susan runs the Cape store, and his son Zach Stanfield will work with the Advance branch. Kevin's father, Bill Stanfield, is a partner in the Cape store, which the family has owned since 2010, when Wes Kinsey retired. Kevin Stanfield has been a partner since 2004.

"My father is a Bell City boy," Kevin Stanfield said.

Old timers in the area may remember that Dr. Harte founded the original My Daddy's Cheesecake on Main Street in Cape in 1987.

The new store was built on Broadview in 2006, and the business has expanded to sell cheesecake and cupcakes to the Dierberg Supermarkets in St. Louis.

"We'll be watching the Advance store closely to see if it could be the prototype for a 'stand alone' My Daddy's franchise," Stanfield explained.

Store hours will 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"We will serve coffee, muffins, toast, fruit, an egg sandwich, and biscuits and gravy for breakfast," Stanfield said. "However, we will not sell donuts or a full breakfast. There will be a 'pick-up' window, but we will not have a drive-through menu. Customers may call 573-321-2400 to place an order."

The 321-2400 number is a local number.

Stanfield expects to hire 10 part-time and full-time employees. Beth Rush, the manager for the store, lives in Bloomfield.

The café will occupy the spot in Lakeview Plaza left vacant by Blimpie's sandwich shop.
