Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 07/11/2014

Thursday, July 10, 2014

Producers made good use of the holiday weekend and baled many acres of
hay now that weather finally seems to want to cooperate. Much of the hay
however is well past optimal harvest and quality has generally been only
poor to fair and much of this hay will require additional supplement come
feeding time. Projections of a potential record corn crop and falling
prices should come snow fall. Hay supply is moderate, demand is light to
moderate, and prices are steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture
has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed,
or for a directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ or for
current listings of hay http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices
f.o.b. and per ton unless specified and on most recent reported sales
price listed as round bales based generally on 5x6 bales with weights of
approximately 1200-1500 lbs).

Fair to Good quality Bromegrass 50.00-70.00

Wheat straw 3.00-5.00 per small square bale

Missouri Regional Fescue Seed Prices (07/11/2014)

Compared to last week, bids were steady. Fescue harvest is basically
complete for this season. The winds from an early week storm pretty much
removed any standing seed that was left. Most would just as soon put this
year out of memory following last year’s perfect weather and plentiful
harvest. Demand and Supply were both light and several buying stations
did not even open or accept seed. This will be the last report of the
season.
