Thursday, March 5, 2015

Members of the Star Banner 4-H Club presented two checks recently to local charities, and a third will also be benefiting from money raised through the club's recent Trivia Night and Silent Auction and a grant received from the Missouri 4-H Foundation. The Missouri 4-H Foundation secures and manages financial resources to enhance and expand the Missouri 4-H program, and through their support of the Trivia Night event, a $1,000 grant was secured. Also playing a significant role in the success of the club's efforts was Tyson Foods Plant in Dexter. The local 4-H members presented a check in the amount of $2,075 to the 18 Fore Life Charity. Accepting that check is the organization's head, Scott Kruse. Accepting another check in the amount of $1,287.50 for the UCAN organization is Kim Sifford, who heads up that group's local efforts. Additionally, a check in the amount of $787.50 will be presented to the Wreaths Across America project in December. Presenting the checks to Kruse and to Sifford is 4-H member, Celeste Huey.
