Deadline for absentee ballots fast approaching for June election

Wednesday, May 13, 2020

The deadline to submit applications for an absentee ballot for the June 2 election is May 20.

Stoddard County Clerk Cecil Weeks said residents should call his office at 573-568-3339 to request an application. The absentee ballot will have to be notarized unless the individual is incapacitated or confined by illness or physical disability. The caretaker of an individual incapacitated or confined by illness or physical disability is also not required to have an absentee ballot notarized. The application can be mailed back or the applicant can return the application to the county clerk's office in Bloomfield. Currently government offices are still closed due to the COVID-19 situation so the applicant cannot enter the office. However, Weeks said if the applicant will call upon their arrival someone will come outside to retrieve the application.

Weeks stressed that the last day an absentee ballot can be mailed is May 20.
