County clerk moves two voting locations for June 2 election

Stoddard County Clerk Cecil Weeks has moved two polling locations for the June 2 election.

The first change affects voters in rural Dexter and Pyle. The polling location is usually at the Sacred Heart Parish Center in Dexter. However, the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau has closed the facility to all events except humanitarian efforts, such as blood drives.

Residents of rural Dexter and Pyle will vote at the Bearcat Event Center, along with Dexter Wards I, II and III.

“We will have separate areas for each precinct with proper signage for direction,” said Weeks. “ We apologize for any inconvenience and want to thank Dexter Public Schools administration for extending the use of their facilities at this most uncertain time.”

The second move is in Puxico. Voters will not vote at Puxico City Hall but will instead vote in the lobby at the Arnold Ryan Gym at Puxico High School.

Weeks said his office was contacted by staff at city hall to request the move due to a lack of space at city hall.
