Lehman was born to Earl and Roberta Jennings Aug. 17, 1938, in Dudley, Missouri. He attended school in Dexter with his siblings (Charles, Monroe, Carroll Henry, and Saundra, all who preceded him in death). He later went on to receive a BS in Agricultural Engineering at University of Missouri in Columbia, as well as completing his MS in Farm Management. Lehman worked for the University of Missouri Extension and was promoted to office manager when the family moved to Saline County. He provided services to farmers throughout Lincoln, Warren, Montgomery, Saline, Pettis, Carroll, Chariton and Lafayette Counties until his retirement in 1996.

Lehman married Donna Johnson (deceased) and had three children, Mike, Sam and Tony (deceased). He later married Judy Trotter (Tolias) and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 3, 2024. Lehman and Judy combined their families and he welcomed her children to include Chris (deceased), Cathy, Mark, Carl and Bev Tolias. Together Lehman and Judy had a daughter, Charlie. His life is celebrated by Judy, his children, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren (with one on the way).

Lehman Jennings was known for his easy laugh and generous heart. He was a member of the United Methodist Church throughout his life and was a regular member of First United Methodist Church in Marshall, where he served on the board of trustees and finance committee. He also worked with Habitat for Humanity for decades and served as the president of the board. He spent many Saturdays with his “crew” building houses in Saline County for families in need. Lehman also participated and served with the Saline County Pork Producers, Missouri State and National Cornhusking Championships, local and state fair committees, 4-H and FFA projects, Saline County BBQ, and any other projects that needed some extra hands. He dabbled in small engines and was always in the garage to give out sound advice and tinker with a motor.

Lehman leaves us a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and one of a kind friend. He will be missed greatly but has gone on to join his heavenly family. We will always remember the good times and love you until we can join you as well.
