SCAA Volleyball continues
Still waiting for some information on all of our SCAA Volleyball teams..... Do you know anything?
2008 SCAA Volleyball
Originally posted Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 3:26 PM
I attended Dexter's season opening volleyball match against Kennett Tuesday evening and found myself pondering the fate of Stoddard County Volleyball this year. The JV Lady Bearcats rolled 25-8, 25-7 but the Varsity squad had some competition before pulling it out in 3 sets.
Big performances from Cathryn Heil, Jessica Satterfield and Kayla Joyner were enough to more than make up several errors and inconsistent passing. Thursday, Dexter travels to Jackson to take on the Lady Indians. I anxiously await!
Kristin Eaves, Sami Palmer and sophmore Lyndsey Stone paced the way for Bernie in their opener against Sikeston. Bernie breezed!
I haven't heard anything from Bloomfield, Bell City, Puxico, Advance, Richland or Woodland yet..... have you?
Varsity and JV..... Who's good? Who's not? Who are the big names out there this year? Who will be riding a volleyball scholarship next year?
Comments
If it took the Cats three sets to down Kennett, I wouldn't bet on them if any of the teams in the SCAA are strong. Hopefully they will improve throughout the season. Any word on why Dexter doesn't play FALL softball BG????? Interesting isn't it and worth a bit of discussion?

I was thinking along the same lines..... Jackson tonight should tell more of a story!
I haven't got my answer on the Fall Softball yet..... I'm working on it and yes, it is worth some discussion.

The Bearcats have an advantage...Kris was an excellent player in HS/College. She was coached by an excellent coach in HS(college coach was pretty good as well). She has a State title and an undefeated season under her belt as a player and I am sure she would love to have the same thing as a coach. She knows what it takes to have a team that is physically, mentally and fundamentally strong. Each time she walks into the gym in Bloomfield she is reminded of these things, with the glorious picture of all of us surrounding the Harley.(or was it a Harley? Been some years since I pulled out those pictures). If there is any talent on this team whatsoever, she can pull it out of them. It is still too early tell what teams are going to do what this season. I have seen some pretty bad teams turn out to be pretty good teams by the end of a season.

Dexter went to Jackson's house and the JV Lady Bearcats whipped the Lady Indians 25-18, 25-21. Led by all-around athlete Lauren Ward, the team showed no strain after falling behind 4-0 in the second game and rebounded with some smart play by all to earn the victory.
Varsity Lady Bearcats also won again. Don't have a lot of particulars yet but maybe the first match against Kennett was just a tune-up.
Both squads are 2-0 with the home opener against Richland scheduled to be played on Monday evening.
Stay tuned!

Not bad.....Small schools still usually are the dominant teams, so lets wait on any coronations...
Also HellilSlokavic.....being a standout player means nothing when it comes to coaching in any sport. It does give one an empathy for what players go through and deal with, but the motivation, preparation, game planning, studying, disciplining, controlling, and decision making from the bench as a coach is an entirely different "monster". Many stars suck as coaches and many average players make incredible leaders as coaches. Glad you got to relive the glory days. I would guess the motorcycle was a Kawasaki.

i was at both the kennett and jackson games....and for those of you that dont know...the varsity girls were a little out of sync at the kennett game...and the reason being, is because at the last minute their rotation had to be changed due to an injury to one of the players and that had everyone off a bit....and as far as the jackson game goes...jackson is a very good team and is always a good game for dexter...this does not reflect on the athletic abilities of ANY of the girls on the varisty team....and i feel like some of the parents of the JV team needs to start acting like adults and put their jealousy aside and support ALL the GIRLS on BOTH teams...it is high school volleyball...not a professional sport...most of these girls on these two teams will not even go on to play at the college level...i think it is very sad that there is such jealousy and hatefulness on the part of some of the jv parents....we as parents should be VERY PROUD that dexter has two awesome volleyball teams that are representing dexter...instead of talking bad about who got moved up and who didnt...because in ten years or so no one will even remember any of this...
as far as dexter doing fall softball...it was brought before the dexter school board and they rejected it stating that it would interfere with girls tennis, cross country, volleyball and football cheerleading....it will get to where there will be no teams for dexter to compete against for spring ball because alot of the teams have already gone to fall ball or is in the process of doing so....i personally wish dexter would...it would give those girls that are very good at softball a chance to get recognized for college scouts

They did look a bit frazzled against Kennett and no one is questioning the athletic ability of any of the ladies. Hopefully they have turned the corner and are focused because yes, Jackson always fields a very good team.
The intent of this blog sportsfan is to track the progress of the SCAA Volleyball teams this year which I am a big fan of. I support ALL of the girls. Don't want to get into any sideline jealousy issues.
Thanks for the info on Fall Softball.

Hoon, I'll have to echo what you said about great players not necessarily being the best coaches and the average/below average players being the better coaches. I mean, look at Joush Doudy from over 'er at Advance. Kid couldn't play a lick, heck, couldn't even make a layup in warm ups most of the time. He had more splinters in his rear than he had hair on his head, but he turned out to be the 2A coach of the year. Perfect example.
-- Posted by KevinDuBrow on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, at 11:22 AM
Another example would be the Patterson kid that was from Dexter in the mid-90's. No doubt about it, he was far and away the best player on that team but if you think for a second that he could coach then you would probably be mistaken. Same goes for Blackburn, Dawson, and Willie Welty. Players they were...........but coaches they are not.
-- Posted by KevinDuBrow on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, at 11:25 AM
Hillel slovak -- Who are you? I'm in that picture too. :)
Kris has a good head on her shoulders and very talented. She knows the game! She lives the game! She always has! We were fortunate to have one of the greatest coaches in HS that I've ever known. Barb Dalton taught us many valuable lessons.
Kris was a pleasure to play volleyball with, and one of my best friends throughout our school days...and YES, I'm sure she wants her team to be the best they can be. Coaching is kind of like anything you do in life! Live and Learn.

KevinDuBrow
I don't know who you are, but if you are talking about Ronnie Patterson, you are sadly mistaken about him not being able to Coach. He has Coached a group of girls since 3rd grade on a traveling team and believe me, they are some of the best ballplayers you have ever seen, and it is all because of him. The only losses they had the past year were to a couple of 8th grade AAU teams this year. The girls played over 70 games and lost about 4? Tell me that is not good coaching. These kids are in 7th grade now, so I suggest you come to the TS Hill Middle school and watch them play-you will see he can indeed Coach!
-- Posted by bearcatmom on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, at 5:37 PM
bearcatmom, that is awesome. It's really impressive how a bunch of elementary and junior high girls can win that many games. Wow, Mr. Patterson must be an unbelievable coach.
That first paragraph was all sarcasm, let me know in five years how many games they have won. I bet it's not 70 out of 74. Good luck to those girls when the games really start to matter. I don't know you, but you sound about par for the course when it comes to parents and student athletes. Reference previous blogs and articles for a definition.
-- Posted by BonScott on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, at 7:43 PM
BonScott have you ever played sports a day in your life? It should be impressive that some elementary girls have won that many games. I am more than realistic about student athletes. I have older boys who played sports. By the time they were seniors, there were only about 3 out of the 12-15 junior high kids left playing ball. This happens to every group. Kids quit, move off, ect... Did I say they were superstars-no! But to put Mr. Patterson into the lump of can play, but can't coach is wrong. Do you know him? Do you know anything about basketball? These kids have outplayed competitive teams that were bigger and stronger. Fundamentaly, COACH Patterson has taught this group the skills they need to be successful at the middle school and high school level, if they choose to do so. THAT IS WHAT A GOOD COACH IS!!!Go ask the middle school coaches what they think of Patterson as a coach-he is right up there with them. Just curious, do you have kids?
-- Posted by bearcatmom on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, at 8:29 PM
Alright bearcatmom, I will try to answer each one of your questions the best I can. Here goes.1)yes 2)yes 3)yes 4)yes. I believe that about sums it up. And if you want to talk basketball, I suggest you pack a lunch. I just get sick and tired of every parent thinking little Tommy or Cindy is the greatest athlete ever when they win a bunch of games in Little League.
I will be waiting to here from you in five years to let me know how they did. And with all due respect, I do wish them the best.
-- Posted by BonScott on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, at 10:24 PM
Bon, sounds like Ronnie Patterson might have whipped your tail in some ballgames. Doesn't sound like bearcat mom was bragging about the greatness of those girls, but maybe pointing out that Ronnie can coach. Looks like she might be a realist, didn't hear her say they were going to state. I know Ronnie from the good ole days, and I have seen his girls play. They have been well- coached by this non-coach. If you haven't seen them, don't take that away from him. Bet Ronnie could still beat anyone in one on one.
-- Posted by wiseguy20090 on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, at 10:33 PM
Please....Please and Please do NOT get on here and brag about a coach who gets to take an AAU team, which is made up of the best of the best, travel around...play a bunch of games and claim they can coach. Why the hell aren't these guys making the big bucks coaching in schools when it counts? IF Bon grew up in Dexter the same time as Mr. Patterson, Mr. Patterson did NOT whip his tail...but rather moved away to a 1A school in order to hope to standout, rather than stay in Dexter and be another starter on an above average team.
Will have to agree with Bon.....wait and see how many state titles these girls win and then we will give praise to not only their HS coach, but also to the Dads/Coaches who put the time in with them in the summer/AAU programs. NO ONE is dissing the time and effort put in while working with these young ladies....but DO NOT act like some AAU dude is a Hall of Fame Coach.
-- Posted by shannonhoon on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 12:05 AM
Pretty sure BearcatMom has a daughter and son playing ball......likes to yell at refs and thinks she knows much more than she really does. Another example of "I wasn't worth a crap as a player myself, but I hope my kids are". Funny stuff.
-- Posted by shannonhoon on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 12:07 AM
I doubt Dexter would take on the fall softball league...b/c that would be taking away from the money Dexter Parks rakes in from the girls who play on the late spring/early summer league. That's just my opinion.
hoon, you already know my position on little league boasting. There's nothing wrong w/ giving the little ones props for a job well done. I don't know who coach Patterson is, nor do I remember him as a player from the 90's. I just think that being proud of your child, no matter their age, isn't something to be put down. No harm, no foul...unless a parent goes overboard. It's mainly just teaching them to be excited about their successes, teaching them the ability to cope w/ their losses, teaching them that physical activity is REALLY fun, and letting them experience all of the above. I didn't have the money to play sports, and I don't care if my boys go on to be super-stars, ordinary players, or just off-the-field dreamers...so long as they're having fun, and they know we're proud of them.
-- Posted by mrsdolphin on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 2:20 AM
wiseguy, I have no idea who Ronnie Patterson is, nor do I care. And the last time I checked, basketball was still a 5 on 5 game not one on one. I never said that he wasn't a very good coach. I was making reference to bearcatmom and her promoting of a bunch of 12 year old girls. Some people just never figure it out when it comes to student athletes and their parents. It is actually a very sad thing and is the main reason I will not go and watch high school sports.
-- Posted by BonScott on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 7:20 AM
Come on Bon.... High School sports are a blast! How can you turn away from a good Stoddard County rivalry?
-- Posted by greer958 on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 8:29 AM
Scott, Again, you are missing the whole point. Dubrow said that Ronnie could play ball, but not coach. Bearcat mom was pointing out that he has been a coach and did a fairly good job of it. She wasn't bragging about the greatness of the girls, but the fact that they have been coached well and taught the fundamentals of basketball. I am just wondering what brought Dubrow to the conclusion that Ronnie couldn't coach? Why even bring his name into this? I have known Ronnie all my life, and there has never been a brag come out of his mouth about his girl team. Still, I know he is a good coach, I have seen these girls play and he has taught them the basics of good basketball. Hoon, this is not a elite AAU team. All of these girls, like all the other teams in Dexter, all just Dexter girls who will play ball together at school. I also know that these Dexter Girls have played elite AAU teams in St. Louis and Columbia, and have done extremely well. I would be happy to let Ronnie take my ball team over and coach them to the level that he has brought his girls. In 6 years, I will be back on here telling you how they did, win or lose, but I can tell you that Ronnie Patterson is a good coach and probably should have been a high school coach. I just want to know what Dubrow's comments were based on-assumption or ignorance?
Bon, where is the one on one thing coming from? I guess you are confused about which blog you are on. I got curious and read some other blogs, including the Hansbourgh thing. Maybe you forgot what you were blogging about?
Hoon, once again, don't attack Ronnie personally. I played against, and 1a or 5a one of the toughest, smartest ballplayers around. Don't care why he moved, wouldn't have mattered, he was just damn good. Do you have an all-state honor collecting dust somewhere?
Finally, any of your kids play competitive ball or just Park and Rec?
-- Posted by wiseguy20090 on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 8:37 AM
wiseguy, check your previous post. You're the one that brought up the one on one thing.
-- Posted by BonScott on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 9:28 AM
Hehehhehheheheheheee....Said before, First Team ALL STATE in Rock n Roll!!!!!! Great 1A ball player and fit in well playing that schedule. Would have struggled against the Bluffs, Jacksons, Sikestons, Charlestons, New Madrids, Cape Centrals, Notre Dames of the area. Would have mattered.
My kids play competitive Park and Rec ball, seeking perfection and getting caned when they fail.
-- Posted by shannonhoon on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 9:28 AM
Wiseguy.................did anybody ask you for your opinion??? I was just having a little fun at one of Hoon's post and countered with the "some are good players but not good coaches" and visa versa. BIG DEAL. As far as Ronnie Peterson "should" have been a H.S. coach--then why didn't he?? Peterson was a good player, no doubt. I think I saw one of his games around 1995 and I will have to DISAGREE with Hoon about the whole schedule thing. He would have done just fine playing the Bluff's, ND's, Sikeston's, etc. Kid could play, no doubt about that, but he had a pretty good supporting cast around him. I just said that he probably couldn't handle the rigors of coaching at the "paying" level, that's all. Sounds like Wiseguy is one of his buddies, him, or his significant other.
"And winners take alllllllllllllllllllllll"
-- Posted by KevinDuBrow on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 10:31 AM
Bon,
My bad, I did bring that up. Anyway Hoon, get your facts straight. Patterson played against some of the best teams in the state in that 1 -a schedule. Remember Scott County Central and marcus timmons? go ask some of the Dexter, Sikeston, New Madrid players of that time and they will tell you ronnie was tough, no matter if it was 1a or 5 a. Also,Park and Rec is not competitive, kids can barely dribble a ball down the court. I am not saying these girls are all staters either, but don't take away from the fact that they are going into middle school with great fundamentals and that is because of a good coach-Ronnie. He does have some crazy parents who do think the kids are going to the WNBA, but I can tell you ronnie is not one of them. Bobbie, can't you post game schedules so these guys can see for themselves that up to this point, these girls have been well coached. Dubrow, you opened this can of worms, I want to hear why you think ronnie can't coach.
This is my first blogg, enjoying it, but don't talk about people unless you have credible evidence.
-- Posted by wiseguy20090 on Sat, Sep 6, 2008, at 10:46 AM
Opened this can of worms??? You get on here and act like Peterson is being wooed by SEC and Big 10 coaches just because some of his AAU teams just happen to win. Like I said earlier, big deal. Noone wished any bad fortune on these girls or Peterson, but evidently I need to clarify something. I don't consider elem. AAU to be "coaching", it is more like "guiding". The fact is there is no PRESSURE on Peterson to perform. No principal, A.D., Supt., busy-body fans that are around looking to bring him down. And plus, he is able to come and go as he pleases. That my friend, is volunteering, not full blown-out coaching. Never said Peterson was a cull..................just don't consider him to be a real coach.

No doubt about it, he was far and away the best player on that team but if you think for a second that he could coach then you would probably be mistaken. Same goes for Blackburn, Dawson, and Willie Welty. Players they were...........but coaches they are not."
Did you not write this dubrow? You brought Patterson up, and said he couldn't coach. Why bring him up at all if you don't consider him "a coach"? You must not have kids in that age group or even close, because those parents are as cut-throat about elementary school ball as they are high school. He sure could have came and went, but he hasn't. Don't attack someone because they have tried to prepare kids for the next level of play. What would you know about pressure from school anyway? Are you a coach somewhere? guiding or coaching or teaching, all the same, you are there to make kids better at something. And once again, none of the Dexter teams are AAU teams. All of the teams I am familiar with have only Dexter students on them. To be an aau team, there must be at least 2 out of towners on the squad, one of those on the floor at the same time, if memory serves me right. Might want to call Tyler Hansbourgh and he can tell you what an aau team is and that we don't have any here in our small town.
Like I said, you brought him into this, and that is wrong. Just wanted to set the story straight. Long, you are too funny. I know Jason really well too, played against him about the same time.

Sounds like I have struck a personal chord about Peterson, didn't I wiseguy, er.....I mean JasonLong, I mean 5 foot Long, ooops.........WiseLong!!!haha It is funny that there is no JasonLong for over a week, then mysteriously this "Wise Guy" comes out of the cellar and alas..........Jason Long comes out and makes a post. Geez. WiseLong, you have toooooooooooooooooo much time on your hands!!! Quit trying to be a lawyer/blogger and concentrate on posting things under your REAL name and stop making up different sign in names pretending to be someone else. Remember, Layne said it best when he said, "Finkle is Einhorn and Einhorn is Finkle", and in this case it's Wiseguy is 5footLong and 5footLong is Wiseguy!!!!! YOUR caught once again!

I don't care if you know I was 5on5. I don't care about your unibrow. I don't care about elementary girls basketball.(not yet anyway) I don't care about popeye and whether or not he eat's his spinach or if he gives Olive Oil a goodnight kiss. I just don't care! I mean, is that how a so-called "COACH" gets his kicks these days, getting on the internet and making a REAR END out of himself and all of those associated with him? KevinDuBrow...not that it's any of your business, but my real father had nothing to do with us growing up and my step father was trying to adopt us. We used my step-fathers last name from K-11. These days, I don't think they would let you do that, because we never really had legal rights to his last name. At any rate, my real father would never sign over his parental rights (even though he never paid a lick of child support and we rarely saw him)...so my Senior Year I was forced to revert and use my birth name (Z...) for College Preperatory/Scholarship purposes.
My point:
Not everything is a joke, so maybe you should think about that before you post such idiotic comments. Use your brain and a little common sense. You'll be okay.

Don't know anything about weekend volleyball as I went to multiple Cardinals games this weekend in St. Louis and other business. Got back to Dexter in time tonight for Dexter/Richland.
Dexter JV wins 25-10, 25-18 and Dexter Varsity wins 25-8, 25-13. Both squads are now 3-0.
Would love to hear anything about the other Stoddard County teams!
Shannonhoon..... I love all the crazies equally and get a little 'turned on' when I log on and see the comments skyrocketing! I'm easy!

I was also at the game last night, and the girls did a great job. Other than the volleyball aspect, one thing stuck out in my mind. Richland students really showed up to support their team, FOR BOTH GAMES!!! Where were the Dexter kids for the JV game? I realize there were other events and practices going on but...Dexter is a big school...you all can do better than that!

I agree with vb fan.....
Dexter students need to show more support for both teams! As a mother of one of the vb players, I know that it makes them feel good to see their peers cheering them on!

Very good point! The Richland students showed up faces painted, crazy clothes, etc. even knowing they were playing mighty Dexter! Good job Richland! Keep supporting.

Hey Sportsfan!
I haven't heard one JV Parent say anything regarding who got moved up and who didn't. I believe both JV and Varsity parents support both teams as well as the coach! I think Sports Fan is the one with the problem. She acts like she knows everything! Maybe she needs to quit running her mouth and listen to what the other parents are saying. That way when she posts a blog like this she has true information instead of gossip.
All JV parents I know are proud of MM, I know I am! I hope she continues playing the way she does!! She has it in her heart, like we did back in the day. That's what it takes to be the best player you can be- You must want it more than anything else and I believe that is what MM wants!
I bet Sports Fan didn't even play sports in school.
hahahehe

I know Bell City went 2-2 in the Notre Dame VB Touranment Saturday. They lost to Perryville and Notre Dame. Those are two good teams. Dexter, Bell City, and Bernie should be the top teams in Stoddard County this year in my opionion. Although Bloomfield, Puxico, and Woodland can upset some of these teams if they slip. Dexter will be the team to beat because of their height and have more athletes because of the size of their school. Bell City is down by their standards, but their still a good 1A team. Stoddard County is always a strong conference in volleyball and basketball.

Bell City does always have good volleyball..... some good coaching up there! Keep it up Cubs!
What about Bloomfield, Woodland, Advance and Puxico? Anyone know anything about them?

It's gonna be tough for Bell City without the Spears' girls. Last one graduated in May. No more Spears...... Still, the Lady Cubs have a good tradition!
Good to see the lady bloggers takin' jabs at one another - instead of all guys!

Dexter vs. Cape Central Tigers.....
JV Lady Bearcats win in two sets 25-11, 25-18. Good work by the whole team!
Varsity Lady Bearcats also won in straight sets 25-12, 25-22. Elisha Flanigan set the momentum in Dexter's first set win with a big service game. The second set showed Cape Central being more aggressive but the Lady Cats played very well as a team to come from behind.
Both squads are now 4-0. The Varsity will compete in the SEMO Tournament this weekend.

GREER...is it SEMO tourney or BA tourney????????
Just checking.
Sounds like this is a couple of groups of gals to get behind. Do they serve beer at the volleyball games?

It is great to see the school spirit that our rebel fans are showing. My only question is, Monday night we played Dexter and there was an article in the paper about that game, but we played Twin Rivers and Gideon last week and there wasn't anything in the paper about these games. Do you only cover Dexter sporting events? I haven't noticed anything about any of the other schools in the county either.

Oops, I was wrong, there was 1 article about the Bernie volleyball team. Other than that I have only seen stuff on Dexter. Usually they do articles on each school in regards to how each coach feels their team will do that upcoming year.

Rebelvbmom..... encourage the coaches, teachers, students, parents to get information to us (including pictures) asap. We have ONE sports guy and he pretty well stays swamped all of the time. Just about anyone at a ball game can snap a few photos and keep the scores. Any local information gathered is great!

BTW.... how did the games against Twin Rivers and Gideon go?
You may have just become the official Richland volleyball connection! Let us know.

In the recent Bernie Volleyball Tourney...... Bloomfield's JV team beat Scott City to take first place! Go Wildcats!

RebelMom: On behalf of the Daily Statesman, let me apologize for the lack of recognition that is being paid to Richland Volleyball. I second what GREER says...the coach or parents should call in the scores. This will likely mean that the coaches and parents will only call in contests in which Richland has won. GREER, this should only happen about 3-5 times this Fall and hopefully won't bog down the lone sports dude!

shannonhoon, do you have a job? You have something to say about EVERY story the statesman has, and I notice that you post day and night. Not a very nice response to the rebelmom. If you are jobless, maybe the statesman would hire you-it seems you love to write. By the way, I AM NOT LONG!

I think the Lady Rebels are doing great this season. This is the best I have seen them look in a couple of years.

This just in from Richland.......
Varsity Game Richland vs. Puxico at Richland
Puxico won in two 25-8, 25-19.
Puxico is a great team that has strong serves, defense and are not afraid to attack the ball. They will be a top team in SCAA this year. We (Richland) could not adjust to the tough serving in the first set. The second set my girls got some confidence and started passing the ball and getting some attacks in and had Puxico struggling for a bit but we just could not pull out the win.
In JV action Puxico defeated Richland in two 25-12, 25-11.

Dexter hosted the Bloomfield Lady Wildcats Monday evening (after a not-so successful SEMO Tourney over the weekend)....
In JV action Bloomfield handed Dexter their first loss of the season 25-12, 25-12 as they looked nearly flawless. AWESOME TEAM PLAY!!!!!!
Dexter took the varsity match 25-18, 28-26. The second set was a squeaker after Bloomfield came from 10 points down to tie the score at 24-24.
Dexter will travel to Scott City on Tuesday and host Bernie on Thursday.

Dexter vs. Scott City......
Dexter JV wins 15-25, 25-21, 25-22.
Scott City Varsity wins 25-22, 25-13.
Dexter played a strong first game, but faded in the second. Dexter tangled with Scott City in the SEMO Volleyball Tournament held this weekend and suffered a similar fate, losing 25-16, 25-9.
"It was our intentions to give Scott City a better match tonight (Tuesday) than what we gave them on Saturday," Dexter coach Kris Vandeven commented. "Our girls came out strong and played a good first game. We just couldn't seem to finish the first game off, though.
"After losing the first game, we could never get going again and get the momentum on our side," Vandeven added. "We are going to have to figure out how to maintain our intensity and finish our matches."
Dexter Varsity now stands at 7-3-1 while the JV stands at 5-1.
