Gotta buy me a Mercury...
..and cruise it on down the road..
The BFF and I were headed from southeast Missouri to northeast Texas Thursday, when we saw this sweet old Mercury, just tooling along I-30 with the big boys.
It always gives me a thrill to see these old cars, still out there in good shape, still keeping up, after all the years.
I know they're probably uncomfortable as all get-out, but--oh, the romance of them! Oh, the nostalgia! They fairly boggle my mind and send my imagination reeling! Those were the days when automobiles were built with real metal in American plants, using American labor.
They are a symbol of a beautiful, bygone era.
The big issue between the BFF and his Texas brother is--Yes, it's a Mercury--but what year??? BFF says '49 or '50. Texas brother says '38 or '39.
No matter what the year...It's a real treat to share the road with these classy old girls!
From the concrete labyrinth of I-30, crossing over the Arkansas River, this is your traveling country blogger Madeline, gazing out the car window in wonder at our U.S. Interstate Highway System and the beautiful vehicles that travel it!
