Wow! Delta gets new variety store!
On the way back from a doctor appointment in Cape yesterday, I stopped in at the new store in Delta. It's called Delta One Stop for good reason. Wow! I love it!
Several years ago, I did a blog (or maybe two) on Red Door Antiques, my favorite antique store of all time. It had several things going for it, in my estimation:
* It was located in a small town, where it was one of the few businesses.
* The owner renovated an old historic building.
* The merchandise was elegantly organized, so it was a trip down Memory Lane to shop there!
* The owner--Ellie Cook-- was interesting to talk to.
It looks as if Diana Cook, Ellie's sister, is going to be just as nice as her sister! She is from Bollinger County, where she is a preacher and is active on several community boards, including the Amen Center at Delta.
When her sister retired from the antique business, they tried unsuccessfully to sell the building--and, when that failed, Diana made the decision to reopen it as a variety store.
Oh, my, oh, my!!! Variety is the word! She has new merchandise in a mind-boggling variety! I'll try to list some of the items which occupy the well-organized shelves: Purses, power tools, sewing supplies (even NEW SEWING MACHINES!), plumbing supplies, toys, pharmacy supplies, stylish women's clothing from New York and California, inspirational items such as cross purses, name brand nail polish for a dollar a bottle, housewares (She bought out the Show Me Marketplace in Jackson), makeup, Revlon hair color, bath and body items, memory foam bed items, jewelry (prom necklaces), pet supplies, watches, grilling supplies, office supplies, water and pool supplies (some wonderful inflated boats for the pool), food (fresh cut meat on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday), men's clothing, fishing supplies, painting supplies, and furniture.
The hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. six days a week. Closed on Sunday.
I forgot to get the phone number, so I'll have to get it later.
I wish I could post more of the pictures I took. I'm doing a story for next week's NSC, so I'll have several shots of the story--but the pics won't be in color, as they are here.
Good luck, Diana--I know that the Delta community is proud of their new store!
