Dexter Schools honor Veterans with special program

The Dexter School District honored area Veterans with a special program in the Bearcat Event Center. Following the program Veterans were treated to a reception in the Bearcat Event Center's Hospitality Room.

Dexter Student Body President Ellie Dowdy welcomed evryone to the event and lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Fifth Grade Veterans Day Poster Contest winners are Christian Colove - Mrs. Allen's class, Ariana Duley - Mrs. Brown's class, Lucy Wheetley - Mrs. Lummukka's class, Austin Sluder - Mrs. Miller's class, Gabby Garner - Ms. Parker's class, Adalyn Davis - Miss Parsley's class, Lyla Garner - Mrs. Pixley's class and Sophia Shoemaker - Mr. Scott's class.

The second grade classes at Southwest Elementary raise $443 with the coin drive. This will buy 29 Wreaths for the Wreaths Across America Event at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. The second grade coloring contest winners are Bonnie Ryan - Mrs. Fees' class, Sophia Buenaventura - Mrs. Keena's class, Aspen Newkirk - Mrs. Bruce's class, Vivian Williams - Mrs. Massey's class, Cayden Lawson - Mrs. Boyer's class, Thalia Hernandez - Mrs. McLaughlin and Ian Rodriguez - Mrs. Kennedy's class.
