2023 Retirement Tea at Dexter Schools

Dexter Schools held its annual Retirement Tea to honor six staff members who are preparing to retire.

Tammy Freeman .. Mrs. Freeman became the High School Secretary on August 12.2003. She will retire at the end of June with aft 20 years of dedicated and faithful service to Dexter High School and the Dexter Public School District.

Kerri Kruse - Mrs. Kruse graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a Bachelor of Special Education k-12 in 1983 with certifications in MR, BD and LD. She also earned her Maters of Education from Southwest Baptist University in 1999. Sh began teaching at Gracenore Elementary in Northern Kansas City for two years from 1994-1996. Mrs. Kruse then returned to Dexter where she has worked in T.S. Hill Middle School, Southwest, Central and then back to Southwest. She has also served as varsity basketball cheer coach from 2016 through 2022. She is retiring with 27 of 29 years of faithful service to the Dexter Public School District.

Shelly Leonard - Ms. Leonard graduated from Southeat Missouri State University in 2001 with her Bachelors of Elementary Education 1st-6th grades. She also earned her Masters in Education from Southwest Baptist University in 2003. Ms. Leonard began her teaching career at Dexter in 2002 as a second grade teacher. In 2021 Ms. Leonard became the elementary computer science teacher. Ms. Leonard is retiring with all 21 of her years in dedicated and faithful service to Dexter Public Schools.

laura Miller - Mrs. Miller began her career in education as the Dexter High School secretary in 1992. In 1998 she became the Dexter School District Book Keeper. Mrs. Miller retires in December of this year with all 31 and a half years of dedicated and faithful service to dexter Public Schools.

Amy Pixley - Mrs. Pixley graduated from Oakland City University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with Kindergarten. Mrs. Pixley has taught at Clarkton Public Schools in Kindergarten from 1994 through 1997 as well as new Madrid County at Teaching for Tomorrow from 1997 through 2000. In 2000, Mrs. Pixley came to Southwest Elementary to teach Kindergarten. She finishes her education as a Central Elementary 5th Grade teacher. Mrs.Pixley is retiring with 19 of her 29 years of faithful and dedicated service to the dexter Public Schools.

Deborah Kay Stogsdill - Ms. Stodsgill graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1992. Ms. Stogsdill spent 8 years with the New Madrid County School District as a 4th grade teacher from 1993 through 2001. She then worked as a 1st grade teacher at Bloomfield Schools until 2016. Ms. Stogsdill came to centeral Elementary in 2016 where she served as a 4th grade teacher. Ms. Stogsdill retires with 7 of her 30 years spent in faithful and dedicated service to the Dexter Public Schools.
