Bernie School Board approves two purchases

The Bernie School Board made two purchases Monday evening at its October meeting. The first was the replacement of a 250-gallon water heater that had been in the building since its construction. The heater has begun leaking. The cost of replacing the unit with one of the same size would be about $15,000. The Stoddard County Health Center has confirmed 83 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday. Director Ben Godwin confirmed 53 over the weekend and 30 on Tuesday. Two women approached the Dexter Board of Aldermen Monday evening with concerns regarding the SoutheastHEALTH clinic at Walmart. The women alleged the clinic was not CDC compliant as sick patients waiting for treatment at the clinic are standing without masks near the checkout area in the store coughing and sneezing with no social distancing.
