Monday afternoon storm causes widespread damage

Update 5:57 p.m.;

Multiple homes in the Gideon area reportedly have sustained heavy damage and lost their roofs during the storm. Trees in the town are blocking Main Street.

Update 5:53 p.m.:

A tree is reportedly blocking the road along Highway 158 near Harviell. In addition, two large trees are blocking Highway 53 in Campbell.

Several downed trees and other damage have been reported in Butler County during Monday afternoon's storm.

The area near the intersection of Highway 160 and Highway 158, west of Harviell, appears to have taken the brunt of the storm's fury, with a tree reported down on a trailer. The tree, according to Butler County firefighters, did not fall through the trailer and nobody was home.

Another tree was reported across the road near the Highway F and Highway 160 intersection, and another along County Road 488.

Butler County firefighters have responded to the area.

In addition, authorities are reporting a possible train derailment near Campbell, Mo.
