Stoddard County confirms 37 new cases of COVID-19; 74th death

Stoddard County Health Center Director, Ben Godwin, has confirmed 37 new cases of COVID-19 and the 74th COVID-19 related death in the county since the previous update on August 4. The county now has 178 active cases of COVID-19 and has had 3,676 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

Broken down by age group the confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic are 0 to 19 – 522, 20 to 29 – 510 cases, 30 to 39 – 491 cases, 40 to 49 – 572 cases, 50 to 59 – 476 cases, 60 to 69 – 487 cases, 70 to 79 – 355 cases and 80-plus – 263 cases. Broken down by gender the county has confirmed 1,631 cases in males and 2,045 cases in females.

Godwin released an update on the outbreak at the nursing facility. There have been 37 total positive cases with no new cases since July 30. There have been 29 recoveries and five deaths. As of Friday afternoon three residents are positive for COVID-19 and there are no positive cases among the staff.

A breakdown in active cases by community (these numbers do not include the cases in the nursing facility) has Bloomfield at 73, Dexter at 57, Advance 14, Bernie 12, Essex 9, Puxico 8 and Bell City and Parma with one each.
