The city of Dexter will place three construction-size dumpsters within city limits to encourage beautifying the city.

The proactive clean-up program was discussed Monday, March 4, during the Board of Alderman meeting.

City Administrator David Wyman reported the pilot program will begin March 18 and end April 1. No yard waste or electronic waste will be accepted. The dumpsters will be monitored and emptied as needed.

Dumpsters will be placed at the following locations:

• Corner of North Walnut Street and West Truitt Street

• South Park Lane and West Fannetta Street

• South Nelson Street and Highway 114

This pilot program will be an early kickoff for Spring Cleanup held throughout April, according to the discussion.

Every Friday during the month of April large bulky items, such as old furniture, are picked up by the city for $1 per item. Large appliances, including stoves and refrigerators, are picked up for $10 per item.

Residents must call 573-624-5527 to schedule pickup.
