Robert Richmond

Robert “Windy” Richmond, son of the late E. W. “Lige” Richmond and Hester Holcomb Richmond, was born May 26, 1926, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life March 17, 2024, at Memory Lane in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 97 years.

Mr. Richmond was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII and he was a former accountant for IXL in Bernie, Missouri. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri, and a resident of Dexter. He was a volunteer for the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, and he enjoyed traveling with his wife.

On May 20, 1950, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Scruggs. Mrs. Richmond preceded him in death Jan. 11, 2005.

He is survived by his son, Randal W. Richmond of Dexter and by several nieces and nephews.

Other than by his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Harry Richmond, Carl Richmond, Wayne Richmond, H.M. Richmond, and C.L. “Babe” Richmond; and his sister, Marjorie Justice.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, with Pastor Mitch Grainger officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
