National Day of Prayer event Thursday

Monday, April 29, 2024

The Dexter Ministerial Alliance has invited the public to join them for a special prayer service for the National Day of Prayer, to be held at noon Thursday. The event will last around 30-40 minutes. In case of inclement weather, it will be held at First Christian Church of Dexter.

The National Day of Prayer is observed annually on the first Thursday in May. The observance was designated by President Harry S. Truman who proclaimed a National Day of Prayer to be observed July 4, 1952.

Each year since that date, Americans have observed the day in their own way. The observance was moved to the first Thursday in May by President Ronald Reagan and has been proclaimed each year since.
