To feel guilty or not
I suppose at one time or another we have all felt guilty over something or another. Well, maybe you haven't, but it seems I live in that state.
Most of the time it is probably well deserved on my part.
I worry that I didn't say those words kind enough, or I didn't do what I told someone I would do. Maybe I forgot to return a phone call in a timely manner. You wouldn't believe the things that keep me awake at night. I have this problem of wanting to make everone happy all the time. Well---you and I know that just isn't going to happen no matter how hard I try. But it doesn't keep me from those guilt feelings.
Those of you who know me, know that it would serve me well to lose a few pounds. So here it is, another source of guilt! I feel guilty every time I over eat or eat something that I know I shouldn't, which is often.
Now, the television commercials are trying to add guilt to my life! They have taken chocolate chip cookies and put them in a cute little car going down the highway listening to music. Just having a good ol time. Then--wham a big hand reaches in and picks that cute little cookie out of his car.
Well you know what happens next. Someone takes a big bite out of that poor little cookie! I think oh no, I can never eat another little chocolate chip person!
Then I thought, wait a minute. Cookies are made to eat and here I am with enough guilt in my life and now I'm feeling sorry for a cookie?
Well, they just couldn't stop there. No way. They had to take those wonderful little pieces of candy that "melt in your mouth, not in your hand" and give them life! When their purchaser is at the check out the two little M & M candies are talking. The one says to the other how glad he/she is to be on the invitation list. The other says, "THAT'S THE MENU!" and starts running the other way on the electric counter. He's trying to escape that party.
Now, you guessed it. Every time I start to eat an M & M I see those cute little things running for their lives!
But darn it!! I have to draw the line somewhere on what I feel guilty about. Umm-you think maybe Mr. Potato Head could counsel me so I can enjoy
two of my favorite sweets?
Well anyway, gotta go.
