MTV teaching kids to read?
It appears that no ones favorite music television station MTV has reached a new level of idiocy. Now, in addition to the more colorful things they teach children, they've decided teaching them to read would be a nice addition to the stations almost music free lineup.
In addition to MTV, VH1 and CMT will begin rolling out lyrics at the bottom of the screen during music videos in November and expect to be in full swing by the middle of next year.
A recent story in Rolling Stone magazine made an interesting point on the issue. Given the type of videos they play the most, kids will probably be understanding just a little more than some parents want them to.
In some ways though, this is a neat idea because its often difficult to understand lyrics without a little help. However, that means we'll never hear some guy singing "'scuse me while I kiss this guy" again. In some ways, that friend who never knows the right lyrics will be sorely missed.
What do you guys think?

I remember a time in my life when I thought it was the greatest thing ever. That's how I found new music. I blame the downfall of MTV (and television in general) on The Real World, basically the first "reality" show.

"I like big butts and I cannot lie..." or maybe Queen and "Fat Bottomed Girls" It's all the same song, each with a different generation or groups twist.
